S/S Wishlist

I've been reading blogs for quite a while and from time to time, a blog post pops up with people's fashion wishlists. It's always a good way of seeing new bits and pieces I might not otherwise see. I've decided to do the same, for a number of reasons really.

Internet shopping is great, and so convenient, but can certainly be a big dent on my bank account.
Nevertheless, I can spend hours clicking around various clothing, accessories and homeware websites checking out the latest goodies. Especially during revision time.

Spring finally seems to be starting here in the UK, which means it's time to ditch the coats and boots and get out into the sun. Until now it's seemed a bit pointless buying summer clothes - it seemed like summer was never going to start! So

I'm also currently on a summer/beach body diet (isn't everyone during April?) and finding some treats to reward myself with is always good motivation.

Aaand good news - I've managed to get a job! It's a part time one which will go alongside my University studies, so won't be that many hours. Still, it's a bit more money for a summer spending spree at some point!

So here's what's taken my fancy so far...

What are you all after this season?!

Revision Blues

I'm not very happy.

It's mid April, and the past few days is the first real sign of Spring we've had in the UK this year. The weather has been pretty horrible for months, constantly grey and rainy.
But now the sun is shining, the sky is blue, there's a nice breeze... and I'm stuck inside revising.

My exams start three weeks today, and I have three in total, spanning over about a week and a half.
There's a lot to learn.
Obviously I want to do well, so over the Easter break, when I haven't been out with friends and family, at work, or asleep, I've been revising.
(Well, a lot of the time I've just been pretending, but shhh)

I'm a master of procrastinating.
I'm tempted to clean and sort out my room after posting this.
On Sunday, I rewarded myself for doing about 1% of my target Economics revision for the day by baking a cake.
Why not, eh? Everyone deserves a break!...

At least I've got company.
This is Hebe.

She's spent all day yesterday and today lying on the windowsill next to my desk and coming for a cuddle when I'm losing motivation.

And when my motivation's running reeeeally low, I've always got my I Hate Economics Revision cake!

A month tomorrow I finish my exams, then I have a 17 week Summer.

Work now, play later.
I'm sure it'll pay off.

I suppose I better get on...

Wanderlust

One thing to know about me is that I am very rarely ill. When I am poorly, it's always just a cold, I never really get any viruses or severe issues (touch wood!) But there's one bug I just cannot steer clear of - the travel bug! I absolutely love getting away from the UK and going on adventures and seeing the world. St Augustine wrote, "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page” and I couldn't agree more. Seeing different places is such a fantastic experience - I can learn about new cultures, meet new people and just discover amazing things! Whenever I see photographs of anyone anywhere, I'm always filled with a desire to see the world!

So, today I got thinking about the places I have actually been:

  • Belgium
  • Croatia
  • Egypt
  • France x 5
  • Greece x 2
  • Ireland
  • Italy x 2
  • Jordan
  • Portugal
  • Scotland x 5
  • Spain
  • United States
  • Wales x 3

Considering I'm 20, I don't think I've done too badly. I know I'm so lucky to have had the opportunities and resources to be able to go where I've gone so far. I've promised myself I'll visit every continent at least once in my life (including Antarctica - bit of a mission but I'll get there!)

I'm already excited about Summer, too. 7 weeks today I'm going to the beautiful Lake Annecy in the Rhône-Alpes region of south-eastern France with my friends from Uni. Also in June, I'm taking part in a sustainable development project in Uganda with an NGO for 2 and a half weeks. I'm really interested in international development and hope to work in that sector upon graduating; visiting Uganda is a bit daunting but will be something completely new, and I'm sure it will be a fantastic experience. I'm also looking at going back up to Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and a couple more short breaks in Europe at the end of Summer. So, lots to look forward to; I just need to get the dreaded second year exams out of the way and carry on earning some money so I can do everything on my Summer 2013 bucket list!

Oops!

It's been a long time since I last posted on this blog. I've started loads throughout my teenage years and always manage to forget about posting, but I would certainly like to start blogging more. I read a few lifestyle blogs and love to gain an insight into what others are doing - there's so much out there and it's great to learn about other people and places! So, I'm going to try to revitalise this blog and give it some love over the next few months - I'm sure no one's really interested in what I'm doing, but it'll be good to have a record for myself. And hey, if anyone else is reading - please feel free to comment - I'd love to hear from you!
